My journey with hip impingement
My hip and groin pain started about 4 years ago when my Chiro diagnosed my symptoms as moderate spinal degeneration of L5-S1. This condition caused my otherwise fit and flexible body to feel rigid and painful every day.
I was determined to arrest this degeneration by changing my mindset, approach to exercise and nutrition because what served me in my 30’s no longer serves me now in my 50’s.

Fact or Fallacy 1 June 2020
The notion that you should burn more calories than you
consume so that you can lose weight has been found wanting….
Not all calories are created equal. Simply reducing or avoiding
your RDA (Recommended Daily Allowance) of carbs, fats or proteins will not get
you onto a road of healthy eating and a balanced lifestyle.
You need to look
at the metabolic effects of the source of your calories and notice how your
body retrieves energy from it. Our bodies are unique and the caloric deficit
route does not work for everyone.
Now days, the focus on carbs has moved from simple vs. complex
debate to a more accurate measure of high vs. low glycemic carbs. Low glycemic
index raises your blood sugar levels slowly and increases insulin levels
gradually. This gives you more energy and keeps you fuller for longer.
At the end of the day, it’s not the caloric quantity but
rather the quality that will be the
difference that will make the difference….
